Follow this process if you need to ask a Young Carer Grant applicant for evidence.
To find out what they need to send, the applicant can visit mygov.scot/young-carer-grant/sending-documents
If they're reapplying and live in the European Economic Area or Switzerland, follow the 'Reapplying for Young Carer Grant outside Scotland' guidance. The applicant can visit mygov.scot/young-carer-grant/reapplying-outside-of-scotland
The applicant needs to send one document, dated within the last six months, from the following list of options:

If we have the applicant’s phone number, always try to call them first. Find out if there are any accessibility needs before making the call.
Try phoning three times during the day, at different times. Record details of each try with a brief description and the evidence that’s needed.
If you cannot reach the applicant, send them an evidence request letter.
Ask for more details or evidence. Make sure they understand what’s needed and how it can be provided.

If the applicant has not supplied the information or evidence within seven or more working days (excluding public and privilege holidays), make a determination based on the information held in the system.
If you think the applicant needs more time, you must discuss this with a team manager.
