40 more social security jobs for Dundee
Another 40 jobs at Scotland’s new social security agency will be advertised next week.
Application process begins next week.
The roles, which are based in Dundee, will support the next stage of benefit delivery, including the Best Start Grant and Funeral Expense Allowance. Eventually at least 750 jobs will be based at Social Security Scotland’s headquarters.
Speaking during a visit to the site to meet staff, Social Security Secretary Shirley-Anne Somerville said:
“The creation of these additional roles demonstrates the excellent progress we are making in building Scotland’s new social security system.
“We have already filled 93 posts and I was delighted to meet some of new recruits to talk about how Social Security Scotland is getting ready to make its first payments.
“As we expand our presence in Dundee, we are looking for people with positive attitudes who share our ambition to deliver a public service that people in Scotland can be proud of. The establishment of Social Security Scotland and the jobs that come with it will continue to be a real economic boost to the city.”
Background
The application process for these roles begins on August 28 when more information will be available. Once fully operational Social Security Scotland is likely to employ over 1,900 people, with at least 1,500 divided evenly between Dundee and Glasgow, and over 400 more employed across the country providing face-to-face support where it is needed.
