Carer honour for Social Security Scotland

Social Security Scotland has been officially recognised as a carer-positive employer.
Just weeks after being created as an executive agency of the Scottish Government, Social Security Scotland has been awarded “Carer Positive” status by Carers Scotland.
The honour means the organisation is judged to be a workplace where carers are valued and supported – and follows the initial payments of Carer’s Allowance Supplement as Scotland’s first social security benefit.
Chief Executive David Wallace said:
“It’s important to all of us at Social Security Scotland that we treat each other – as well as our clients – with dignity, fairness and respect.
“Being awarded Carer Positive status at the first level, Engaged, is very encouraging. We want to carry on working with Carers Scotland to create an even more supportive workplace as we grow and ultimately to achieve Exemplary status.”
Carers Scotland Director Simon Hodgson said:
“We are delighted to recognise Social Security Scotland as a Carer Positive employer and applaud the early steps they have taken to ensure that the agency provides a supportive working environment for staff who are carers.
“It is encouraging that Social Security Scotland is embedding a strong culture of support for carers, both within the workplace, and in its wider engagement with carers as clients.”
