A change that occurs before the initial determination is made

An individual may have a change of circumstances:

• after submitting an application to Social Security Scotland
• before a determination has been made

Case managers should take this change of circumstances into account when making the determination.

The backwards and forwards test must be applied to conditions reported in a change of circumstances. This may then result in a split award. Find more information on how to process a split award.
