Rates of payment for the daily living component of ADP
The daily living component of ADP has 2 rates:
- standard and
- enhanced
Rates get updated every year
The weekly rates are updated annually in April.
For more information on the rates, see the ‘payment of Adult Disability Payment’ chapter.
Paying someone who’s entitled to daily living component for less than 1 week
Where an individual is entitled to payment of the daily living component for a period shorter than one week, payment is to be made at one-seventh of the relevant weekly rate, for each day of entitlement. (ADP Regs, reg 34(1) and ADP Regs, reg 34(3))
Read about paying ADP
Where considering an individual’s rate of payment, there should be consideration of the chapter on payment of ADP.
Consider whether any zero rating or deductions are needed
Whilst an individual may be determined to be entitled to the daily living component at the enhanced or standard rate, consideration needs to be given to whether there requires to be any zero-rating or deductions from their rate of payment.
This will be relevant where the individual:
- is in or enters legal detention
- is in or enters hospital
- is in or enters a care home or residential educational establishment
- is temporarily absent from the common travel area
- is in receipt of constant attendance allowance
- is to be given payment in whole or in part by way of deduction
Suspensions
Where an individual’s entitlement is to be suspended, consideration should be given to suspensions.
