Recognising our commitment to inclusion
We have been recognised for our approach to inclusion in our workplace after winning the Barakah in the Workplace – Muslim-Friendly Employer Award at the Scottish Muslim Awards 2026.
The award celebrates organisations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to creating a supportive environment for Muslim colleagues to ensure they feel supported, valued and able to thrive at work.
Through colleague surveys and research, we have gained a deeper understanding of the experiences of our Muslim colleagues and clients so that we can provide better service and support where required.
We have offered guidance to colleagues and managers to allow them to provide effective support during Ramadan, raising awareness through events including celebrating Eid.
Insights gained from our work so far will help shape our next Equalities Strategy as we continue our journey towards becoming an even more inclusive public service employer.
We will continue to focus on improving the experience for our diverse workforce and the people of Scotland that we serve, ensuring inclusion remains at the heart of our organisation.
Chief Executive of Social Security Scotland, David Wallace, said:
“We are pleased to receive this recognition, which reflects our continued focus on creating an inclusive environment for both colleagues and clients.
“It’s a testament to the efforts and dedication of colleagues across Social Security Scotland, who are helping create a workplace where everyone feels welcomed, respected and able to contribute.”
