Best Start Grant and Best Start Foods are payments that help towards the costs of being pregnant or looking after a child.

Carer Support Payment and Carer Allowance Supplement

Carer Support Payment is money to help you if you’re a carer. You can apply for Carer Support Payment now if you live in Dundee City, Perth and Kinross or the Western Isles.

In all other areas of Scotland, carers can apply for Carer’s Allowance from the DWP.

Carer's Allowance Supplement is an extra payment for people in Scotland who get Carer Support Payment or Carer's Allowance on a particular date.

Child Disability Payment

Child Disability Payment provides support for the extra costs that a disabled child might have.

Child Disability Payment replaces Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for children and young people living in Scotland.


Child Winter Heating Payment

Child Winter Heating Payment used to be called Child Winter Heating Assistance.

It’s a payment to help disabled children and young people and their families with increased heating costs over winter.

Funeral Support Payment

Funeral Support Payment helps pay for funeral costs if you live in Scotland.

Job Start Payment

Job Start Payment helps young people in Scotland with the cost of starting a new job.

Scottish Child Payment

Scottish Child Payment helps towards the costs of supporting a family.

Young Carer Grant

Young Carer Grant is a yearly payment for young carers in Scotland aged 16, 17, and 18.

Winter Heating Payment

Winter Heating Payment provides consistent and dependable annual support to assist low-income households with their heating expenses each winter. This includes older people, disabled people and families who are responsible for children under the age of five or disabled children.
