Publication scheme and Freedom of Information

Social Security Scotland has adopted the Model Publication Scheme developed and approved by the Scottish Information Commissioner. The Commissioner is responsible for enforcing the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act.

As an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government, Social Security Scotland implement the existing processes established by Scottish Ministers on Freedom of Information requests. We also adopt the Model Publication Scheme recommended by the Scottish Information Commissioner to ensure that information is appropriately provided to members of the public in a spirit of openness and transparency.
