Talking business on Tayside with local suppliers

Our Procurement and Commercial team have been meeting local suppliers and businesses in Tayside to highlight opportunities to work with us.

They recently attended a Meet the Buyer Tayside event in Dundee to highlight upcoming contracts available for tenders and explain how our procurement process works.

The event, organised by Dundee City Council and the Supplier Development Programme, was held at Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc close to our Dundee Head Office, Agnes Husband House.

Our attendance is part of our role in the Dundee Community Wealth Building initiative, which is looking to boost jobs and communities by supporting local businesses in competing for work.

Working alongside other anchor organisations – large employers that have a strong local community presence in Tayside and include Dundee City Council, NHS Tayside and Scotland Excel – we are looking to spend more in the local economy and encourage all kinds of businesses to work with us.

Meet the Buyer Tayside was also a chance to promote our Community Benefits strategy, where we encourage suppliers to support the local area through initiatives such as training or recruitment opportunities as part of our contract requirements.

Kyle, a Procurement Portfolio Specialist, who attended the event, said: “It was great for our Procurement and Commercial team members  to meet  potential local suppliers and understand more about the services they offer.

“We discussed how we can make procurement opportunities more visible and encourage participation from suppliers in the Tayside area.

“As our Head Office is in Dundee, this was a useful event to understand how we can work with businesses to play an important role in creating and reinforcing local economic networks.”
