Contacting the clinicians' helpline

The helpline is available to support clinicians to navigate the new Chief Medical Officer's guidance and understand the decision making process to complete the BASRiS (Benefits Assessment Special Rules in Scotland) form.

If you cannot find the answer you need in the Chief Medical Officer’s guidance or the frequently asked questions, you can call the helpline.

01382 931060

Open 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday excluding back holidays.

When you call, please identify yourself as a healthcare professional and say that you need help with the Chief Medical Officer’s guidance.

Where appropriate, you will be able to speak to a Social Security Scotland clinical practitioner who can help you understand the information that's necessary for the form to be completed correctly.
