Information requested

Can you tell me how much money is paid for a GP report, please? Alongside how much for a consultant report in the NHS and also within the private sector. Such as a patient engaged privately for their care needs.

Response

We have interpreted this request as relating to the assessment of eligibility for benefits and have broken down your request to answer it as follows:

1. Cost to Social Security Scotland of a GP report

GPs are eligible to claim a £33.50 fee for the completion of a Supporting Information form.

2. Cost to Social Security Scotland of a Consultant Report (NHS)

Details of when a fee can be claimed by medical staff are contained in the Terms and Conditions for Medical Staff in Scotland – information for Consultants is available here:

https://www.msg.scot.nhs.uk/pay/medical/consultants

3. Cost to Social Security Scotland of a Consultant Report (Private)

There are currently no processes within Social Security Scotland to pay private healthcare professionals for provision of Supporting Information.
