Restarting recruitment

Social Security Scotland will be restarting recruitment activities as, along with the rest of Scotland, we continue the transition out of the Covid-19 lockdown. This is only for essential recruitment campaigns and current priority is being given to front-line staff necessary for the efficient processing of benefit applications. However, it does mean that we will soon be continuing many of the campaigns we paused in March this year. This will be done in phases and we are working with recruiting managers to prioritise critical positions.

Candidates who have already applied for vacancies will begin to receive correspondence from the Scottish Government to let them know that recruitment will restart soon. No specific dates will be shared. This correspondence will help us find out if they are still interested in continuing with the process.

To enable us to restart recruitment, while continuing to support efforts to reduce the spread of coronavirus, we will be conducting interviews and assessment centres using video. The details of these are currently being worked through and we will take appropriate steps to ensure that no candidates are unfairly disadvantaged by using this method.

Vacancies at Social Security Scotland will continue to be published on the Scottish Government’s Work for Scotland website.
