Social Security Scotland skills academy graduates secure contracts

All eight of the participants from the Social Security Scotland Academy secured 12-month work contracts.
The Academy is part of our work with Dundee City Council and the Discover Work Partnership to help people access job opportunities with us. It involved an intensive course specifically tailored to help build the skills and confidence of the candidates to prepare them for work with Social Security Scotland. This course is delivered by Dundee and Angus College.
Kirsty Craig, Head of Client Services, said:
“It is brilliant to see the hard work of all the Skills Academy graduates paying off. We can’t wait for them all to start their careers with Social Security Scotland.”
“Delivering the Skills Academy with our partners at Dundee City Council and Dundee and Angus College has been a key part in helping Social Security Scotland continue our goal to help remove and reduce barriers to employment. This is part of our Corporate Plan objective to deliver a service with dignity, fairness and respect – where we reflect the diversity of Scotland and train our staff to make sure they have the knowledge, confidence and understanding they need to do their jobs.
Our commitment to dignity, fairness and respect extends to people applying for jobs with us and our employee’s experiences just as much as it does to our clients.”
“I hope that our graduates can develop and grow their careers within the organisation and I can’t wait to see how they progress.”
We are also working with employability providers in Glasgow to raise awareness of our vacancies and provide support to candidates.
We are committed to building a workforce with varied life experience and which reflects the people of Scotland who we are serving. This is a key example of how we are doing things differently to deliver the best possible service.
