Young Carer Grant pays out over £370k since launch

Over 1,200 young carers in Scotland have qualified for the Young Carer Grant according to the latest statistics published today.

The grant is available for 16-18 year olds who spend an average of 16 hours each week caring for someone who receives a disability benefit.

To support people through the ongoing pandemic, some changes were made to the way we administer some of our benefits. This means we can accept applications from people who have recently turned 19 but were unable to apply at 18 due to coronavirus.

This ensures that young carers can access our support should Covid-19 impact their ability to get an application to us within the set timescales.
