For each of the 116 cases, please reveal:
Request for Information 1: The date of when each applicant had applied for ADP.
Request for Information 2: The date their application was approved.
Request for Information 3: The date Social Security Scotland were informed about the applicant's death.
Response
Please find the information you have requested within the attached document.
In our response to FOI 202400393787, we stated that in 2023 there were 116 cases where an applicant had died prior to the approval off their Adult Disability Payment application. Of this 116, there were 21 cases where at the time of making a decision, we had not been made aware of the applicants death. On these occasions, you will see on the attached document that the date of death notification is after the date of decision. There is also one entry where the client had received a decision on their application, but had died whist awaiting the outcome of their redetermination.
Social Security Scotland’s commitment in Our Charter is to handle client’s applications and enquiries as quickly as we can. We are committed to giving people timely decisions, while allowing sufficient time to ensure the correct information is in place to get decisions right the first time.
Further information relating to processing times is regularly published on our official statistics page here: Social Security Scotland - Statistics
