Request for information 1: A breakdown of the number of Social Security Scotland employees grouped by salary bands (e.g., £50,000–£55,000, £55,001–£60,000, etc.).

Request for information 2: The number of Social Security Scotland employees whose annual salary is £50,000 or higher.

Social Security Scotland is an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government. All permanent employees are Civil Servants employed by the Scottish Government under their standard terms and conditions including for pay. Senior employees are part of the Senior Civil Service (SCS) employed by the Scottish Government.

Social Security Scotland is part of the Scottish Government Main Bargaining Unit (SGMain) for pay which is subject to the Scottish Public Sector Pay Policy. Paragraph 76 in Social Security Scotland Framework Document states, the Senior Civil Service (SCS) is reserved to the UK Government. SCS pay will be in line with the UK Cabinet Office pay and performance management framework.

​​​​​​​Please refer to the attached table titled "Total Employee Head Count by Pay Step - as of February 2025."

​​​​​​​The table displays the pay range for each grade and the number of employees within each pay bracket. This data is management information and unaudited.
