The Best Start Grant consists of three different benefit payments: Pregnancy and Baby Payment (applications taken from 10 December 2018), Early Learning Payment (applications taken from 29 April 2019) and School Age Payment (applications taken from 3 June 2019).

Young Carer Grant is due to launch this autumn. The grant is a new yearly payment of £300 for carers aged 16 to 18 who live in Scotland. Young carers can spend the cash payment as they choose and can apply if they are at school, in further education, employed or unemployed.
