Introduction to cross border moves

This guidance is relevant to:

  • Adult Disability Payment (ADP)
  • Child Disability Payment (CDP)
  • Pension Age Disability Payment (PADP)
  • Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance (SA DLA)
  • Carer Support: Carer Support Payment (CSP), Scottish Carer Supplement (SCS), and Carer Additional Person Payment (CAPP)

It applies when an individual in receipt of:

  • a disability or carers benefit from Social Security Scotland moves from Scotland to another part of the UK
  • an equivalent benefit from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) or Department for Communities (DfC) moves to Scotland from another part of the UK

The equivalent benefits are:

  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Disability Living Allowance for Children (DLA-C)
  • Attendance Allowance (AA)
  • Disability Living Allowance for adults (DLA)
  • Carer’s Allowance (CA)
