Carer Support Payment has replaced Carer's Allowance in Scotland

Two people are standing outside a house. One has a walking stick.

Carer's Allowance, which is paid by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), has been replaced by Carer Support Payment in Scotland. Carer Support Payment is money to help unpaid carers who look after someone who gets a disability benefit.

Carer Support Payment is paid by Social Security Scotland. Everyone in Scotland who is getting Carer's Allowance should now either

  • have had their award transferred to Carer Support Payment or;
  • have received a letter from us telling them that their award transfer is in progress

Anyone with a Scottish postcode who is still getting Carer's Allowance from DWP and has not received a letter should get in touch with us. They can do this by calling our freephone number 0800 182 2222 or getting in touch on Webchat.
