Pension Age Disability Payment is replacing Attendance Allowance in Scotland

Attendance Allowance, which is paid by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), is being replaced by Pension Age Disability Payment in Scotland.
Anyone who is still getting Attendance Allowance from the Department for Work and Pensions and has not received a letter to say their benefit is transferring to Pension Age Disability Payment should get in touch with us.
Pension Age Disability Payment is money for people of State Pension age with care needs because of a disability, long-term health condition or terminal illness. It is worth between £295 and £441 a month depending on the needs of the person who gets it.
Pension Age Disability Payment is paid by Social Security Scotland. Everyone in Scotland who is getting Attendance Allowance should now either:
- have had their award transferred to Pension Age Disability Payment
or - have received a letter from us telling them that their award transfer is in progress
People should continue to report any change of circumstances to the Department for Work and Pensions until their benefit has fully transferred to Social Security Scotland.
The process started in February 2025. It will take until the end of 2025 to move everyone’s benefit to Pension Age Disability Payment. Everyone will continue to receive their payments in the right amount and there will be no gap in entitlement. Some clients may receive their payment one working day later than when they were paid Attendance Allowance. We will write to clients in advance to let them know if this is the case.
