Have your say: Gaelic in our service
Through our first Gaelic Language Plan, we want to support the visibility and use of Gaelic across our organisation and improve opportunities for people to engage with us through Gaelic where possible.
We’re committed to ensuring that everyone can access our services with dignity, fairness and respect.
Gaelic is an important part of Scotland's heritage, culture and identity. Through our first Gaelic Language Plan, we want to support the visibility and use of Gaelic across our organisation and improve opportunities for people to engage with us through Gaelic where possible. The Draft Gaelic Language Plan 2027-2032 sets out a range of commitments covering our workforce, corporate communications, client services, digital services and engagement with communities.
The Plan has been developed in accordance with the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005, as amended by the Scottish Languages Act 2025, and supports the aims of the National Gaelic Language Plan 2023-2028.
We are seeking views from individuals, organisations, Gaelic speakers, learners, community groups and anyone with an interest in the future of Gaelic in Scotland. Your feedback will help us understand whether our proposed commitments are appropriate, achievable and sufficiently ambitious, and whether there are additional actions we should consider before finalising the Plan.
We would be grateful if you could take part in the consultation and share this opportunity through your networks. By promoting the consultation, you can help us reach a wider range of stakeholders and gather valuable feedback that will inform the final plan.
The consultation will remain open until Friday 6 November.
After the consultation closes, we will review all responses and use the feedback received to inform the final version of the Gaelic Language Plan 2027-2032. We will publish a summary of consultation responses alongside the final Plan.
Thank you for taking the time to share your views.
