Verification of death

The process for verifying the death of a client (carer) or the cared for person is the same, regardless of which individual has died.

When Social Security Scotland becomes aware of the death of a client, the date of death should be verified as soon as possible. This is to ensure that the Agency records the correct date of death and takes appropriate action relating to the client’s award.

To verify the death of a client, you must contact the bereavement team. They will confirm the death using current business processes.
