Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

FOI Reference: FOI/202200313566
Date received: 1 August 2022
Date responded: 29 August 2022

Information requested

Broken down by financial years, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22, please state how much has been paid to the DWP in agency agreement. I would also like a breakdown of the costs for each benefit that has been subjected to an agreement.

Response

We have provided the requested information in the table below. Please note that Social Security Scotland came in to existence as an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government on 1 September 2018.

Agency agreement costs are the costs incurred by the Department for Work and Pensions to administer benefits on our behalf while the systems and process required for direct administration by Social Security Scotland are built. For all benefits listed below, with the exception of Carer’s Allowance, Executive Competence transferred to Scottish Ministers and thus the benefits became devolved, on 1 April 2020.
