Response
The information provided below relates to Adult Disability Payment (ADP) cases where the specified ICD‑10 conditions are recorded as either the primary or secondary condition.
Applicants may report multiple health conditions; however, Social Security Scotland is only able to report on conditions recorded as primary or secondary within the case management system.
Some applications may not have a primary or secondary condition recorded. This can occur where an application is withdrawn or rejected before reaching the stage at which disability conditions are formally captured, for example where identity or eligibility checks are not completed.
Applicants may experience additional health conditions alongside those listed. As a result, it is not possible to determine whether an award, or the level of payment, is attributable solely to any individual condition referenced in this response.
Where an individual is already in receipt of Adult Disability Payment and subsequently develops an additional condition that may result in a change to their award, the case continues to be recorded under the original primary condition.
Each individual case is counted once only. Where more than one of the specified conditions applies, the case is assigned according to the primary condition recorded.
Please note that the figures supplied are drawn from management information. This data has not been quality‑assured to the same standard as Social Security Scotland’s Official Statistics and should therefore be interpreted with appropriate caution.

3. F42 - Obsessive compulsive disorder – £14,599,178 value of payments made
The payment values provided do not represent expenditure attributable solely to the specified conditions. Adult Disability Payment awards are determined on the basis of an individual’s functional needs and the impact of their conditions on daily living and mobility, rather than diagnosis alone. Applicants often experience multiple health conditions, which may be unrelated to the conditions referenced in this request. As such, it is not possible to determine the extent to which any award, or level of payment, is linked to a particular condition.
These figures are therefore not an indication of the cost of supporting any specific condition and should not be interpreted as such.
