The application received date will set the pay day for payments to be received by the client. Below is an example to show the different scenarios that could happen:
A client makes an application for one child on Wednesday 15 February 2023, therefore the client can expect to receive payments every four weeks in arrears on a Wednesday.
If the case is approved within the same week the application is received, then the first payment the client will receive will be £100 on Wednesday, 15 March 2023.
The client should receive a one-off payment in arrears if their case is not approved within the first week, ensuring they receive payment from the date their application was made. The case approval date will then set the start of the first full four weekly payment cycle. This differs from the date that eligibility commences, which is the date the application was made.
If the case was not approved until Thursday, 23 February, then the client would receive a payment of £25 (paid within 4 working days) and their next payment would be for £100, paid on Wednesday 22 March. The first payment of £25 covers the first week of the client’s eligibility, and the next payment of £100 covers the period 24 February to 23 March.
Working days exclude weekends and bank holidays. Payments will be issued earlier where there are bank holidays to ensure clients still receive a payment on their normal pay day.
