Families urged not to miss out on Scottish Child Payment

Since Scottish Child Payment launched in 2021, thousands of families throughout Scotland have received this vital support to tackle the costs of raising a family.
As of 30 September 2024, more than 325,000 children and young people aged 0-15 years were benefitting from Scottish Child Payment.
However, estimates suggest that there are still around one in ten families who might be eligible for the payment but don’t receive it yet. And at Social Security Scotland we are committed to making sure that anyone eligible for any of the benefits we deliver is getting the money they are entitled to.
Therefore, today (Monday 27 January), we are launching a burst of marketing activity to help raise awareness of Scottish Child Payment and encourage people to apply. In particular, the campaign seeks to reach families with older children, those in rural areas and parents from ethnic minorities.
There will be radio adverts featured across the regional Bauer network, local community stations (e.g. Isles FM, Caithness FM, Radio Skye) and on ethnic minority stations, such as Awaz FM, Jambo Radio and Panjab Radio.
There will also be advertising on digital platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.
To support advertising activity, we are running a number of stakeholder events and will be distributing a digital resource pack to schools.
If you are an organisation who would be interested in working with us to help ensure eligible families who are entitled to Scottish Child Payment are not missing out, please contact us at: communications@socialsecurity.gov.scot
We provide a range of downloadable resources and fact sheets (including a range translated into alternative languages) about Scottish Child Payment which stakeholders can use.
