Introduction

This chapter is about situations where a carer’s Carer Support award is disputed, including circumstances where a ‘cared for person’ or a third party may dispute an application or award and how a dispute would impact an award.

Carer Support is one benefit consisting of three components:

• Carer Support Payment
• Scottish Carer Supplement
• Carer Additional Person Payment

A cared for person or third party may dispute that care is being provided for either Carer Support Payment or Carer Additional Person Payment. Scottish Carer Supplement is automatically awarded when Carer Support Payment is paid so any changes to Carer Support Payment as a result of a care dispute will affect Scottish Carer Supplement.
