Part of Carer Support Payment decision making guide

Case transfer for Carer Support Payment

The purpose of this chapter is to set out our approach to Carer Support Payment cases transferred from Carer’s Allowance. This includes how you should treat these cases differently from new applications.

Carer’s Allowance is a benefit for unpaid carers administered by the Department for Work and Pensions. Carer’s Allowance is being replaced by Carer Support Payment in Scotland. Carer Support Payment is administered by Social Security Scotland. Apart from a few exceptions, Carer’s Allowance is equivalent to Carer Support Payment in terms of eligibility rules and the amount individuals can receive.
