Part of Carer Support Payment decision making guide

Overpayments

Carers are expected to notify Social Security Scotland of changes in circumstances which may affect their eligibility for Carer Support Payment.

Where it is identified that entitlement to Carer Support Payment has ended because the eligibility criteria is no longer met from a past date, normal overpayment action should be taken.

Therefore where it has been identified that carer 1’s entitlement ended in the past, and they have been overpaid, the award for carer 2 can begin from the date they became entitled to Carer Support Payment and if appropriate, normal overpayment action should be carried out for carer 1.
