Verification of death
The process for verifying the death of a client (carer) or the cared for person is the same, regardless of which individual has died.
When Social Security Scotland becomes aware of the death of a carer or a cared for person, the date of death should be verified as soon as possible by Bereavement Client Advisors. This is to ensure that the Agency records the correct date of death and takes appropriate action relating to the client’s award.
To verify the death of a client, you must contact the bereavement team. They will confirm the death using current business processes.
Establishing Executor or Appointee details for a client (carer) who has died
Bereavement client advisors would identify an executor or appropriate person to act on behalf following operational guidance at Identify, contact and record and a client’s appropriate person to act in death.
