How to make an application

Applications for Carer Support Payment can be made:  

• by completing the application via the online portal 

• with a client adviser by phone  

• face to face with a member of Social Security Scotland’s Local Delivery team 

• by posting a paper application form  

An individual can contact Social Security Scotland using whatever channel they are comfortable with, to seek advice or help with their application. 

Social Security Scotland’s Local Delivery team are available to help individuals to make an application either: 

• face-to-face in local delivery offices 

• remotely by telephone.  

Guidance on completing applications will be available:  

• on the Social Security Scotland website  

• on leaflets and on the application forms 

• via support organisations such as Citizens Advice Scotland
