Information received from the DWP for Case Transfer
At the point of transfer, it is assumed that the transferring individual’s circumstances are:
- accurate on the date the determination is made
- the residence and presence conditions are satisfied for the individual (Carer Support Payment Regulations, Schedule 1, Part 2, regulation 5(5))
Where information used to make a relevant Carer Support Payment (CSP) determination was assumed to be correct and is later found to be incorrect, the case manager should make a determination without application (Schedule 1, Part 2, regulation 4(3)).
Examples of when a CSP determination could later be found to have been made on incorrect information are:
- The client is found to not meet the residence and presence conditions
- The client is found to be earning above the earnings threshold
- The amount someone receives in overlapping benefits is found to be different to what was assumed
