Part of Carer Support Payment decision making guide

The meaning of case transfer

Case transfer is the process of moving someone’s existing benefit award from the United Kingdom social security system to the Scottish social security system.

This means Social Security Scotland become responsible for administering devolved benefits instead of the Department for Work and Pensions.

It also means changing the benefit entitlement of the UK benefit Scottish residents currently receive to the equivalent Social Security Scotland benefit.

The “date of transfer” refers to the date the individual’s Carer Support Payment entitlement begins and their Carer’s Allowance entitlement ends.
