Child Disability Payment decision making guide

After a case discussion

Following a case discussion, the case manager can:

  • Ask follow up questions to help them make a determination or take steps to gather further supporting information. This might be necessary in cases where new supporting information is provided.
  • Additional advice should be captured in the same way as advice received through a case discussion.
  • They may continue to engage with the individual to establish whether any suggested information exists.
  • Where necessary, they will assist the individual to gather that information or gather it on their behalf.

The purpose of the meeting will be to support the information gathering process.

  • The meeting will usually be with a representative from Local Delivery and will not usually be with anyone involved in making a determination of entitlement.
  • It will not involve any observation nor will it include a medical or functional assessment.
  • It will consist of a conversation with the individual which will seek clarity on aspects of supporting information in the small number of cases where this might still help a case manager to make a Decision. Operational Guidance sets out how this is done.
