Use of both legs and feet to walk

An individual who all:

  • can only walk with crutches
  • places both feet on the ground alternately
  • but does not and cannot place any weight on one foot and leg

should be treated as unable to walk.

Using crutches or a similar device in this way is sometimes referred to as "swinging through" which describes the motion involved.
